Orion's Belt Inc. is a consulting company based in the San Francisco Bay Area that provides fundraising and development support to businesses, non-profit organizations and individuals. After several years working solely with non-profits, Orion's Belt decided to expand its client base to include small businesses and individuals.  The diversification of our company to begin working with individuals developed from a desire to teach individuals how to raise funds on their own, not to simply do the grantwriting for them.  Our company's dedication to assisting small businesses was inspired by the diversity of requests for support including business plan development, financial planning and for-profit companies requiring our expertise.  

 

Orion's Belt is uniquely positioned to fulfill all of these needs based on the expertise of its lead Consultant.  Nancy Hurwitz has worked as an event planner, fundraiser and grantwriter for over 17 years. She has an extensive skillset in managing non-profit organizations and years of experience developing successful grants and teaching grantwriting skills workshops. Prior to her work with Orion's Belt consulting, she held a position as Development Director with the RITES Project working on all aspects of organizational development, fundraising and event planning.  While with the International Institute for Ecological Agriculture, she worked in the field of permaculture and alcohol fuels developing website and marketing materials, editing the well-regarded book Alcohol can be a gas! and coodrinating all aspecst of educational permaculture courses.  Among other accolades, Ms. Hurwitz received her B.A. in Environmental Science and Public Policy from Harvard University.
